The task
The contract comprised the construction and maintenance of preventive and protective measures designed to avoid slope failures along the road, together with repairs and stabilization work on existing slopes. The corridor is squeezed between the sea and near-vertical rock faces; traffic management and road diversion were part of the scope, so the road stayed in use during the works.

Why it matters for the next project
Coastal Musandam combines the three things that make protection work difficult: high fractured faces, no working platform, and a live road below. The job is a reference for barrier lines set out by trajectory analysis, for aerial logistics, and for corrosion protection specified for a marine environment — the same questions that arise on the Batinah and Dhofar coasts.
